USCG Bubble Curtain

The United States Coast Guard station in Marathon was one of Florida Keys Aeration’s first customers. Five years ago they had an air curtain using bubble tubing installed that was not strong enough to keep the weeds out and the water healthy.

They were still having problems

  • The existing equipment was not holding back the weeds during high wind conditions that are common throughout the Keys
  • Crews at the USCG had to constantly clean their boat props, wasting valuable time
  • the rotten egg smell from Hydrogen sulfide was back and stronger than ever

When Hurricane Irma came through, it took their old weed curtain with it, requiring them to source a new system. After looking at their options they chose Florida Keys Aeration.

Our  Solution

We obtained detailed information about the area to ensure that the system we designed and installed would keep the area weed free for years to come.

  • 3 MAR 33 HE  4 hp compressor systems with sound kits
  • 4 Single disk AirGate Emitters

The Results

The new system and it was doing its job the very next day. As the video shows, the  crew at the USCG has been very impressed with the surface current the new system produces.
